Questions regarding transfers

Post by Jake208 » Wed May 10, 2017 5:48 pm

I'm an Idaho resident, have only dealt with Idaho private parties and FFL so sorry if this is a dumb question. What's the law between an ID resident buying a rifle from WA private party? Pistol? I know WA requires all transfers to go through an FFL. Also, say I buy something from Double Eagle in WA, is there any waiting periods I should know about?

Last time I bought a firearm in WA, it was a face to face but that was years ago before all these laws passed

Not a dumb question...
Idaho resident buying a rifle from a Wa resident: FFL from either state can do.
Idaho resident buying a handgun from a Wa resident: transferred from Idaho FFL only.
Idaho resident buying a rifle from a Wa dealer: Wa FFL can do. (or transfer to Idaho FFL)
Idaho resident buying a handgun from a Wa dealer: must be transferred to a Idaho FFL.
Hope this helps. :)

"Idaho resident buying a handgun from a Wa resident: transferred from Idaho FFL only. "
So if I am a WA resident wanting to sell to an Idaho resident, we meet at a FFL dealer in Idaho to do a transfer, am I understanding that correctly?

So Washington resident purchasing a hand gun from and Idaho resident has to take place at a Washington FFL correct?
Are there any additional costs, or does it cost more than a Washington to Washington transfer?

Correct, handgun transfer must take place in the state of the purchaser. Transfer fee is set by the FFL, no state fees are involved.
