I have a double axle 6' x 10' dump trailer with 3 1/2' side rails available. That way we only have to touch it once and then I push a "magical button" and it lifts up and everything slides out! I can transport it to where ever DNR wants it dumped. October 1st works great for me. Keeps us informed if the date changes.

I like the idea. I've been going there for about 30 years. My dad would take me as a kid. Although lately I haven't been there much. Too many people leaving their junk behind. It's not hard to pick up your shells and targets. I don't see why people are so lazy.

Let us know when the date is firmed up.

Dan Anderson of DNR is available on Saturday Sept. 24th to work with us on the Deer Park (sorry Zeb). I started another Topic (link below) so let's keep all communication on that post from here out. Thanks!

Is the deer park gravel pit still open?

I have heard mixed answers on this.

Went to the Deer Park/ Boggs pit area on Friday. The shooters that were there took all their trash out including us. We had some room in our trash bag and filled it up with mostly paper and cardboard. There is still a lot of junk out there. Also it looks like someone Probably DNR is making big piles of tree limbs in center middle area. It has been awhile since I was there so I don't know how long that has been there.

Is this area NOT covered in the DNR closure?

I believe the current DNR fire restriction is related to outdoor burning and campfires. The exception to this is the Stonelodge parcel which does have a shooting ban in place. This is due to many fires there in the past and an aggressive effort by the locals to shut down the range when the fire danger rating is high.

You might want to double check...I remember reading somewhere recently that shooting is prohibited in all DNR managed areas due to fire danger. I think it wasn't just shooting though, any sort of fires and such were prohibited too, and offroad vehicles without spark arrestors too. I could be wrong though.

Below is all I could find on the DNR website regarding shooting. There is an area wide ban on outdoor burning on DNR lands but no other mention of shooting. But, as greatbob6 suggested it would be a good idea to double check, just as simple as a call to the DNR office in Colville.

SITE NEAR SUNCREST CLOSES JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT
Due to high fire danger, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), working with Stevens County, is temporarily closing a portion of state land to shooting, effective July 7.

Closure of the area known locally as “Stonelodge” or “Mile Marker 19,” to shooting coincides with fire danger increasing from moderate to high in Stevens County. This land is located off Highway 291 west of Suncrest, Wash.

Violators of the shooting closure could be subject to fines. DNR may re-open Stonelodge to target shooting as conditions allow.

As a reminder, incendiary devices, such as exploding targets, sky lanterns, or tracer ammunition, are illegal on all DNR-protected lands.
