Any coyote slaying going on?
I'm headed out tomorrow for a few hours. I knew I would see one around the house at some point today, and sure enough saw one begging to get dropped. You think when there's a skiff on the ground coyotes run around more or is it just that you can see them easily? Wish me luck....

Re: Any coyote slaying going on?
Just did one good stand and played around with a possible second one. The first one called 2 but I think they winded us or something. Never got a good look. Tried the nutty nut hatch for the first time at about 30min. That's when the two showed up 250 yards out then disappeared. The second stand we didn't set up right. Next time...

Re: Any coyote slaying going on?
I got out for a while Tuesday despite the rain. Called for an hour without any result, but it was good to just be out in the field for a while. It was almost more a mental health break than hunting. Ever have those days?

That's my reason behind getting out. Better than a good day at work!

I'm so content just sitting somewhere or breathing the air. My new caller should arrive tonight. I'm pumped. I have been reading predator masters forums too much I need to get out. I need more spots around the house. I live off elk chattaroy sorta. So far I only have short 4 wheeler rides but only make up for 4 or 5 sets.

Do you guys use mouth calls or electronic calls? I've only called in one this year with a rabbit distress call. I will be going out Sunday after church for an evening hunt. Hopefully something comes in

I use both. Plus I have a deer fawn decoy that I can set out too. Combine that with a fawn distress call in the spring and its like a dinner bell.

I see, I was thinking about getting a mojo from cabelas but haven't made a final decision yet. Still trying to figure out what works best. Pretty new to predator hunting or coyotes especially.

Re: Any coyote slaying going on?
I went out yesterday to new place only made 3 sets. Saw one before any calling but couldn't get it to budge. I'll go back again. I think it could hold 10-12 sets! Poop all over. This was Cheney/medical lake.
I have tried the Lightning jack off and on and despite it being the crowd favorite I haven't called a single one on it. I don't howl, all distress. Finish up with a little pup possibly.
Does anyone know how to point a caller like firestorm/fusion with horn/tweeter combo? It seems like I'd point the horn but that tweet automatically points back to me

Does anyone know if I can hunt GMU 284 in Ritzville? I mean as long as it's not posted Private Property I should be able to access it and hunt the area around 4th of July lake correct? I looked on google and in the regulation book but all it says for coyote is year round.

Re: Any coyote slaying going on?
From my understanding the area around the lake is public land.

I do not think property owners are required to post their land to keep people off, you still need permission to hunt private land. That said, if they don't post it they may be more receptive to allowing you on it if you ask first. Could be wrong about this.

I don't care to hunt on private land. My main question is the surrounding area of 4th of July lake public? We and so does everyone else that fish that lake during the winter time walk along the ridges of the lake when the lake is not frozen. Game wardens do as well.

Re: Any coyote slaying going on?
Misunderstood, my apologies. I would look online for a map of public lands if you don't get an answer here.

Thanks and no need to apologize. I've been looking but might need to call WDFW for clarity. When you have questions game wardens never seem to come by lol.

Re: Any coyote slaying going on?
Dry spell is over. I decided to go to the neighbors house and set up. I had 45min to burn before a Christmas party. I decided to try the preloaded sequence called "ol faithful" on my foxpro. Dang thing snuck over from my left side about 30 yards. As it was starting to cross my field of view I clicked the safety as quiet as I could. It heard it. She started to take off so I stood up and shot. Fur down. How awesome.

Re: Any coyote slaying going on?
Ha its a good caller.
Right now I'm studying state land around mt spokane but I don't know anything. I notice a patch close by but looks to be land locked. Anyone have luck in these areas around chattaroy/Blanchard rd etc?

A lot of IEP property around Mt.Spokane and Blanchard area. I have seen coyotes up there but never had luck.
