One less gun store

Post by Mossy » Sun Aug 21, 2016 7:36 pm

Looks like the Fred Meyer in wandermere pulled thier firearm counter. Not sure of the reason

Probably the same reason they took out the electronic section and home section out. Nobody goes to the grocery store to buy a 50" 4K ultra hd tv, like they don't go to the grocery store to buy a AR or a glock. I have a friend that works there and they say that nobody comes in to buy a gun here. I did see the other day that they still have the ammo case though! :D :D

A firearm counter in a Fred Meyer? I've never seen one. Must've been the last of its kind.I'm surprised it lasted this long...

It might've been there for maybe a year. And the prices were OUTRAGEOUS

I'd say the prices were pretty close to what north 40 offers. Never bought anything but it's a fast trip to check something out for feel. It was anyway

Well, if they weren't competitive, then it's no wonder they didn't make it...

The gun counter was on the north end of the store and combined with the paint department (I think). It was kinda hard to find if you weren't looking for it (no signage). Prices were on the upper end but within market for the most part. Really nice people were manning the counter though. The manager told me that the electronics department was taken out to increase the "natural food" offerings (way more profit). Fred's is remodeling all their stores in the area. :)

Yes the "electronic" section is now up front and combined with the kids toys. I was just wondering if the removal of the guns had anything to do with public image or customer concerns

I would say lack of sales. I live on the on the other side of the golf course from there and 2 of my neighbors work there. Everytime I was in there no one was around to help if I had wanted to purchase something. I think it was only in there for about 2 years.

WOW, I have never seen a gun counter in ANY Freddy's I've been in.
I thought maybe it was a throwback, but it sounds like something they have tried in some locations just recently.
If I was to see something like that, I think I'd buy at least some stuff from them just as a show of support!

It was similar to the selection that the Sadle Walmart has but they had handguns too. I was surprised the first time I saw it.

They are in the middle of re-arranging the store. Maybe it will be back?

yep, same here. This store is going Upscale Yuppy. "No more automotive, no more firearms, no more me." That is what I told the gal.

It sure is a busy store tho, they must sell a bunch of groceries. Their specialty departments like the bakery are very good, but you can't buy ammo amidst the bagels.....

I have never done any grocery shopping there even though it is the closest store to me. If I am in a hurry I go to Albertsons. For bigger trips I head up the hill to the discount stores.
