Latest Custom 10/22 Build Pic Heavy

Post by mauser54 » Wed Apr 20, 2016 4:38 pm

Just recently finished doing a complete custom build on my Ruger 10/22. Originally it had the Ruger OEM Synthetic stock which I did not like. So I acquired a Ruger OEM Carbine wood stock and went to work on it. I have been wanting for a long time to build an M1 Carbine Paratrooper style 10/22 but with updated modernized buttstock instead of the original folding wire stocks that the original M1 Carbine Paratrooper rifles had. So I cut off the buttstock on the wood stock, and acquired a AR-15 folding stock adapter and adapted it to the wood stock. The adapter is fixed to the wood stock 3 ways which made a nice rock solid mount. At the Adapter I installed an AR-15 end plate and modified it to accept a QD sling mount on the left side.

The upper Hand Guard I made using an upper Hand Guard off a 98 Mauser stock with some modifications and work it fits great. The Barrel Band is off a Mauser stock also. I had to re-shape the end of the Ruger stock and shave off a little bit on the end of the Hand Guard to have a nice tight fit. Then I also attatched an AR-15 Pistol grip.
using a Mil-Spec AR buffer Tube threaded into the adapter I installed a Mission First Minimalist 6-Pos stock.
After I had the stock completed, I DuraCoated the Camo finish on the stock.

The Mag is the original 10 round rotary mag that I attatched a cut down double stack 9mm mag to, giving it more of the M1 carbine style look.
The Red Dot on the receiver is a Primary Arms Red/Green Dot scope with 2moa. In the future I will be adding Military style front and rear sights from Apex Gun Parts that has the rear military style peep sight with a rail for mounting a scope on the 10/22.

As for inside the receiver I did a complete trigger job ending up with a 2.5 pound pull and I also Radiused the bolt and added an over travel screw on the trigger.

With a little imagination and work I think it turned out pretty good. As for all the Parts used to build this 10/22 I already had, so the actual cost was very minimal. I think I have invested an estimated amount of about $35.00 cash outlay on this project. The Bipod that the rifle is on in the pics is not actually attatched to the rifle. I just used the bipod to prop the rifle for the pics.
Hope everyone likes it.

John, as always, never surprised and always impressed. You always seem to find unique and creative ways to improvise and make creative one of a kind firearms. Great job keep the creativity and quality workmanship coming!
