Recommendations For 17 HMR

Post by seanengman » Sat May 27, 2017 9:57 pm

I never wanted one before, but for some reason I need one now. It couldn't be because I just acquired a large sum of 17 HMR ammo. Do any of you fine people recommend any good bolt actions. I'm after over all value. Not necessarily the cheapest or the best, but something that would be good with a little 4x optic to enjoy.

Thanks,

Sean

I have used a Savage .17 bolt action to slay many a Rockchuck at distances of 60-70 yards. They are accurate and reliable. The only issue is that you may get bored constantly hitting what you're aiming at!

Yeah, I've always been a fan of Savage. I may just go that route.

Sean, Aaron here. You may want to call my buddy Gary at BiMart. I think they have or had some Savages down there on sale.

I have and like CZ. They are reasonably priced and the bit of research that I have done indicates that the next best thing is Anchultz. You can occasionally find one on the used market, white elephant carries them new in the store.

Echo on the savage!! Installed a BSA "Sweet 17" scope on mine. The built in BDC turret is very accurate out to 300 yards! :{)
