I recommend Skidmore's leather treatment of ALL things Leather. I use this on all my holsters, belts, and shoes. Some people uses oil based products to "freshen up" leather but if tou use too much oil it will cause the leather to become TOO soft and lose it's shape.
This stuff uses Beewwax and if works MUCH better and it waterproofs it and prevents mold. And it smells good. I will never use anything else on leather from now on and it's also good for wood stocks and grips. On older leather, clean good first with Saddle soap and then apply Skidmore's. Then let it soak in a couple of days and then re-apply. same thing with new leather, give it a few applications and wait a day or two between treatments.

Government is not reason, it is not eloquence — it is force. Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.

Think I'll check this stuff out ron. The only question I have is using it on Gore-tex boots since it has beeswax. I've always heard that you shouldn't use a waterproofing treatment on Gore-tex because it will prevent the leather from breathing.

I use Obenauf's Water Shield. It is silicone based, has never discolored or warped any of my leather. it makes the leather very waterproof.

When I worked for the DNR fighting fires we all used Obenhaufs LP. I still have my Fire Fighting Redwings from 13 years ago and they are alive and well because of Obenhaufs. They were constantly getting dried out from heat, ash, retardant etc....
