80% Lower Glock 21?

Post by cardinalguns » Tue Aug 15, 2017 6:01 pm

I had a customer call today asking about gunsmithing services related to drilling an 80% receiver for a Glock 21. Seems like it would be patent infringement at a minimum.

He claims it is much like the AR-15 idea.

Never heard of it, but I don't know it all. Have any of you fellas heard of such a beast? Any success?

I believe that 80% lowers have to milled by the person building them since there is no serial number.

Polymer80 is the company that manufactures the glock lowers
Gen 3 glocks are replicated by lone wolf also, as far as slides and frames
The frames from polymer80 are just like 80% lowers of an AR
They come with jigs that clam shell over the lower and you have to drill the holes for the trigger group
And remove some material where the slide rides and install the guide rails into the polymer frame
Get on YouTube and type in polymer 80 glock and there are plenty of videos for diy
But yes from what I understand if you "finish" the other 20% of the work it's for your use only, unless you somehow register
It for re sale
Hope this helps

You cannot mill and 80% lower for someone else, unless you serialize it and register/ do paperwork etc. which defeats the point of getting an 80%. If he can mill it out himself, you can do the rest of installing internals, slide etc without worry.
