May Build....Oh.... It's going to be Glorious
I purchased some Copper and Aged Bronze Duracoat for my airbrush. For those of you out there planning on duracoating your own firearms, get the harbor freight 22 dollat airbrush and clean it after each use or every 5 hours of use and your golden. I use Brake Cleaner and i have tried acetone and everything else as a cleaner for it. Brake Cleaner from walmart works the best.
Do or do not there is no try.

You did a GREAT job!!! A while back I tried to coat a Glock slide with the same set up and I am pretty sure I could have finger painted it and done a better job, I now leave it to the experts, lol. There is a plug for you RLHas and Firearms Finishing!

Re: May Build....Oh.... It's going to be Glorious
I use a cheap harbor freight airbrush. at first i was going through airbrushes like crazy. than i just figured out the best way to clean them and using brake cleaner to do it. I was using acetone but it's not as good as brake cleaner. plus it's easy to just give the whole system a squirt of Brake cleaner once in a while to prevent gumming and clogging. I probably bout a dozen harbor freight air brushes. One expensive 100 name brand airbrush that made it to the garbage in about two days. I'll the first 11 harbor freight air brushes lasted about two years combined. the Last one I bought is going on two years by itself. I've done dozens of guns and each one gets better.
This weekend i was putting on Bronze, Copper, Magpul FDE and Tactical Coyote Brown. The first two went on great on one rifle, copper and bronze. Than i switched to Magpul FDE and and had to use new hardener cause my old bottle ran out. The new hardner was bad. It did not activate the Duracoat color FDE, I was like what the f**k is going on? Needless to say it stayed wet all weekend and is usually dry in 20 mins. I noticed right away it was different when i poured it into the spray bottle, it was quite runny, didn't think anything of it at the time. but right with i started coating the rifle stock, the whole thing looked thin. like something else. Like i was just using paint with no hardener. I called Lauer weaponry this morning and explained what i experienced. Theyre sending me a whole new order of my last order. Can't argue with that. This must have been a problem as of recent because the guy didn't sound surprised or too questioning. He just asked to verify my address and is sending it out today. Good thing too, cause I was hot this weekend. Superpissed. Now I'm just like glad it wasn't me. Screw you Demming.
