Compensators

Post by bambam72 » Sun Mar 06, 2016 12:00 pm

So I picked up a compensator.. Figured cool factor.. But been reading up on the science behind these. Seems mostly they just reduce recoil.. Doesn't seem to be a big change in how much muzzle jump they have.. Anyone have any knowledge on this?

They are not allowed for use in competition. So there has to be something to this..

I personally don't have any experience with these, but I found a pretty good article on the subject. :) http://www.shootingtimes.com/gunsmithin ... pensators/

I shot the gun today and I promise this is a upgrade.. The muzzle climb was still there but noticeably lessen.. But the recoil was fantastic.. It's definitely reduced.. The gun just handled differently. It's pretty cool...

Open class USPSA is dominated by compensated 38 Super double stack 1911 pattern guns. I say "1911 pattern" because they're neither 45 nor single stack. :)

Sounds good. Wilson makes good stuff and they make the best mags. But what kind of compensator was it? what brand? --Wilson? -was it one of those that replace the barrel bushing?

Here's a picture of a Wilson Bushing compensator. They sell for about $85 bucks:

What kind of compensator is it? If it works as good as you say, some of us might be interested in one. is it similar to the Wilson? Do you have any pictures of it?
