Snake River

Post by morrows1 » Tue Jun 23, 2015 2:43 pm

I was just curious if anyone has been down to the Snake recently(Lower Granite to Lyons ferry area). I am planning to fish for some catfish, but don't want to waste a trip if the carp are still spawning or starting. Anybody know what their status is. I love bow fishing for them but only when I plan to do it. Typically from my experience carp has ruined the fishing when they spawn. Any knowledge of the situation down there is is appreciated.

With the predicted temps firmly in the triple digits here for Fri - Mon...
you may want to plan on bringing fins and goggles to do some spear fishing ;) (Sunday is predicted to hit 112 deg  ).

Only one problem with that is I don't have a spear. Figured I'll get out there early morning then swim during the day and get back after it when they temp drops

About 20 years ago my brother and I were bank fishing below Lower Granite dam when he hooked and landed a 12-14lb chinook. Was pretty amazing.

My brother caught a nice 30"+ catfish by central ferry memorial weekend on a sturgeon rod. Besides that we haven't seen any caught.
