Help Identifying M1A

Post by italydad » Sun Apr 17, 2016 9:37 pm

I picked up an M1A today, and I am wondering if I can get some help identifying which model it is. It has a hooded aperture, NM .062 front sight, NM308 marked barrel, and has one of the fancy brakes on it, not the better known flash hider. Here is a pic of the receiver, I understand a super match has a double lugged receiver, but I am not sure what that looks like. I believe this is a National match, not the loaded or super match. I have traced the serial number to 12/00 if that helps the serial number is 1308XX Can someone confirm this for me?

I have done extensive research on this query and have concluded thru the
N.F.A.C.G
National Foundation against Crap Guns
That this gun is not fit for use and should be properly disposed of immediately!
Feel free to bring it in to the shop and we'll issue you a receipt!

A national match will have the hooded rear sight and a thinner front sight. It will have a unitized gas block and a match gas piston probably a sadlak. The handguard will be properly releaved and the stock will be glass bedded in either wood or a mcmillian stock. The older guns i believe were either hart or douglas heavy barrels in either parkerized or stainless. But i think all the newer guns only come with douglas barrels. And a NM guide rod that is much beefer then the GI. I think the loaded is just a match barrel pair with NM sights
