Trap Shooting....
I went for the first time last weekend, it was a ton of fun. Thus I created this section on the site. I borrowed a shotgun from a buddy... now I need to find one for myself. How many Trap / Skeet guys do we have on the site?

Re: Trap Shooting....
I love it. I have a thrower and a couple of boxes of clays on hand. It is the one thing that am a decent at when it comes to shooting sports.

I shoot at Landt Farms, great place!!!
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door to the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.

Re: Trap Shooting....
I shoot a little skeet, used to shoot more. Sporting clays is a hoot but I've only shot it a couple times. CDA has 5 stand and I think it could get addictive.

Re: Trap Shooting....
I do a little trick shooting (throwing up a handful of clays and blasting them one at a time), and have done trap formally a bit, and informally a lot. I am a bird hunter at heart and it is a great way to practice and stay in shooting shape for bird season. I also consider it an ethical responsibility to be able to cleanly kill the bird rather than cripple it with a bad shot. Practice on clays is a good way to get to that point.

Re: Trap Shooting....
My labor union had a charity fundraiser trap shoot two weeks ago out at Spokane Gun Club. It has been 30 years since I last shot an organized round of trap. Two work buddies (both SGT members by the way), their sons and myself formed a team. We went out to the club the Wednesday prior to the shoot to better understand what to do and how the process worked. I shot (at ) 75 birds for practice and another 100 for the charity shoot. My goal was to be in the 80's out of 100 score wise but missed by one, shooting a 79. I was pretty happy with this score since I am a rookie and was shooting a field shotgun. It was way too much fun, I can see trap shooting getting addicting.
Should anybody want to organize an SGT trap shoot, count me in! I understand the gun club welcomes organizations to have shoots at thier facility.

Re: Trap Shooting....
I shoot trap at least once a month altho I try for twice a month. I have shot sporting clays at Landt Farms and Winterhawk however it has been years since I have been to either. Currently I'm a member at the Spokane Gun Club. I do not shoot in the competitions though, I only shoot for the fun of it with a field gun, you don't need a 2000.00+ over/under (altho you might "want" one...lol). Besides, shooting doubles with a pump is a lot more fun.
Anyone that has never shot trap and would like to give it a try, or just has questions feel free to PM me, I'd be happy to meet you out there sometime and explain how it works. They have a couple of 870s that they will rent out as well if you need to rent or you can use one of my shotguns if I am there.

Re: Trap Shooting....
If you do want to do it we could use my thrower. It is not anything special but works great and is adjustable. It will throw 1 or 2 at a time. The guy I bought it from set it up so that it mounts to a tire and stands up on a pole so you don't have to sit on the ground to work it.

Re: Trap Shooting....
Last fall and this spring - attended a few "novice" trap sessions at Spokanistan Rifle Club, got some great instruction from the guys who know what they are doing. It is a bit of a challenge when you don't know where that clay is going to go
Just got back from a shoot at Scumcrest - went shooting with a high school friend / his folks, his kiddos, my kiddo / and his friend . Did some pistol, rifle, and brought my clay launcher - my shotgun shooting was very good today, I was hitting about 9 of 10 birds. Usually I'm happy to hit 5 of 10
Gun: Beretta AL391, 12 ga, Briley forend weight, mod choke
Ammo: Federal Target, 2 3/4", 1 1/8 oz shot, #8 shot
Launcher: Trius 92S
PULL!!!

Went trap shooting with my wife on Sunday in Hayden lake. Was a blast! We are looking into doing it some more on a "date" like basis for fun. We took a lesson from a Groupon, was a great value, very nice people at the Hayden Lake trap/skeet club.

Re: Trap Shooting....
I shoot Trap a LOT! If a group of guys wants to get together at the Spokane Gun Club, let me know and I will contact the Club. Best on either Saturday or Sunday but Wednesday is also an option. All kinds of shotguns welcome - black, white, green..... The only requirement is safety and follow the range rules.

Re: Trap Shooting....
Trap shooting is what we mainly do here at the Gun Club @ WSU. in the spring we compete against UI. If anyone knows of a gun club at Gonzaga, Eastern, SCC or SFCC, let me know, we are looking to expand our competition.
The day they outlaw guns is the day I become an outlaw.
