The GP-100 is about the size of a S&W 'L' Frame but it's a beefier gun because it's cast steel instead of forged, and Ruger developed a special High-strength stainless alloy especially for the Redhawk, so these are very strong guns that a reloader could load the 44 special to near-44 magnum ballistics. And fo5r non-reloaders, there's always the Buffalo Bore ammo, and Underwood has a good selction as well. I'd like to see them offer it in 41 Magnum, also as a 5 shot. Ruger also has a new 8 shot 357 mag Redhawk this year.

New 5-shot Ruger GP-100 in 44 special.
Government is not reason, it is not eloquence — it is force. Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.
