Post by Basspro1986 » Sun Sep 17, 2017 11:08 am

Have a pink iver Johnson 1911-1 Owl edition. Having problems loading rounds. Has a Mec-Gar 9 round mag, trying ti chamber 147g Hornandy JHP Aluminum casings. Any more then 1 round in the mag it won't chamber properly, almost looks like the bullet is being pushed back down in the magazine! Please help

Have you tried a different mag? I think that I would do that first. Next step would be to try different ammo... :)

Is your 1911 in 45 ACP? I would suggest dumping the 9 rd mag and the alum cased ammo, and getting a Wilson 8 rd or a Kim-Pro 7 rd mag and some decent 23 gr FMJ ammo. Then try inserting the mag with the slide locked back. If it doesn't chamber from slide lock you have other issues. A visit to Rick Hastings at Liquid Transformations can probably clear it up. This applies if its a 9mm also. You get what you pay for, and Iver Johnson 1911's are budget level firearms and sometimes QC can be poor.
