Budget long range scope
Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase a new scope for my long range gun(rem 700 LR 300 win mag). I'm looking to spend somewhere in the $300-$400 range. Could anyone point me in the direction of a scope to get me out to 1000 yards?

Re: Budget long range scope
Keep an eye out on here, there are some really good deals on some gently used optics. Your dollar will go farther on one of these and remember that companies like Leupold, Vortex, Sig Sauer have no questions asked lifetime warranties

A friend of mine has one of these: http://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms ... pa4-14xffp
He uses it on a Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor for shooting at 1,000 yards. That scope performs WAY above its price point.

+1 on the Primary Arms.
I have these mounted on Savage and Howa .308s. I joined the "1,000-yard club" with this scope. Can't beat them for price. Get the Strelok Pro ballistics app.

Re: Budget long range scope
+1 on this scope and it fits your budget. I have the HST version of this exact scope and it’s a great optic. I believe the only difference between this model and the HST is the windage turret on the T is an external adjustment and it is capped on the model in the link. At 350.00 it’s about half the price of a HST. The Post Falls store shows out of stock but you may be able to order one in via the website.Straight Shooter wrote:Vortex Viper HS...

As far as the capped windage turret is concerned, I find mostly I adjust for elevation and hold for windage so that wouldn’t be an issue for me. However, I’m only shooting out to 600 yards, not 1000.

I have that same Viper on a 22-250 and love it. At 350 I should grab another!

Might consider the SWFA super sniper series. Never heard a bad word about them.

Re: Budget long range scope
While I am not part of the thousand yard club I can hit a bowling pin at 300 yards with a 22 Long rifle that has this scope on it. Also with my little to no experience I’m surprised people are recommending scopes with such low magnification. I would think you would want higher magnification for that distance. Thoughts guys?

Re: Budget long range scope
Hmmm apparently mirage makes high magnification at that distance a problem. Ignore my 6-24x50 recommendation then but I think they make the same scope (vortex diamondback tactical) in a 4-16x44 that should work well.

Re: Budget long range scope
Look at Arken optics great glass WLW (Worldwide Lifetime Warranty) and the turret clicks are magnificent with a Christmas Tree reticle and FFP. There 6-24x50 is $450 and the 4-16x50 $399 right now. But keep in mind they are 34mm tube. Texas Plinking on YouTube has a good review. Regardless You will not be disappointed!
I almost picked one up but got a good deal on a Athlon Ares BTR Gen 2 4.5-27x50. Athlon also has budget scopes great company with lifetime warranty.
