While that is common, it is a pitfall of trying to use up 2 products that were not designed to go together.
They were designed to go together. Just not in the amount of powder I used
Exactly!!

Are you planning on offering any help with my original question?

Re: Downloaded H110 45 Colt loads

I have never loaded for 45 Colt. I have loaded other cartridges with H110 and Lilgun. I think your H110 loads will shoot just fine, assuming a magnum primer. I do not like Lilgun for revolvers. I'd recommend that you read up on that one before you buy any. As far as the variations in data, these ho...

Re: Downloaded H110 45 Colt loads

What made you choose that particular bullet powder combo? Did you decide to make a casserole out of leftovers, or choose them by design? I picked it because it was what I had on hand and had never loaded that combo before. I have plenty of other mild and warm 45 Colt loads that have proven quality....

Re: Downloaded H110 45 Colt loads

Yeah I plan on switching powders now. I've got some Unique and I'll see if I can find some Lil'gun. I've sent an email to Hodgdon so we'll see what they say. If they say anything negative about the load I'll pull the bullets. No reason to risk it. I was just hoping that 22 grains would be in a safe ...

Re: Downloaded H110 45 Colt loads

Speer #13 shows a minimum of 18.5 gr H110 for a 260 gr jhp in 45 Colt Ruger loads. If you go too light with H110 you'll get inconsistent velocities and dirty, incomplete burning. Lighter than that, you could get hangfires or a stuck bullet. OK that's the main question I have. How low of a load does...

Re: Downloaded H110 45 Colt loads

Where did you get your load data for H110 and the 45 Colt? Hodgdon website doesn’t list H110 as a powder for the Colt. I got the data from the hodgdon website. Used the Ruger Only 45 loads. I also used the info for a 250 gr bullet. they didn't have 255 on there. The minimum charge on their website ...

Downloaded H110 45 Colt loads

Howdy, Last night I loaded up a few 45 Colt, 255 grain Plated flat nose with 22 grains of H110 to give me a velocity around 1200 out of my Ruger Blackhawk. After loading those I discovered the issue of downloading H110. Everything I've read says don't go below posted minimums. My question is what ha...

Re: Range clean-up Saturday April 7th

You said there might be a clean up at Deer Park (Boggs Pit?)
Someone recently told me that range has been closed down. Is there any truth to that?

Re: Commander Recoil Spring Weight

Thank you for the detailed information. I guess saying the slide was difficult to pull back was incorrect rather it required noticeably more force to do so than my other full length 1911s. I guess I was asking if the 22lb spring was an overly heavy spring for that pistol but from your information I ...

Commander Recoil Spring Weight

I have owned this particular commander for almost a year know and replaced the factory dual spring with a Wilson Combat flatwire spring and guide rod. I believe the spring I ordered was about a 22lb deal and I think the original was about the same weight spring. I am curious why commanders seem to a...

Re: Future of the 45 Colt

Thank you folks for all of your helpful information. I originally posted this because I didn't truly know how prominent the round still was. After all of this discussion you have made me a true 45 Colt convert. Thank you and I cant wait to purchase my levergun and start loading for it

Re: Future of the 45 Colt

That was also a great article Downeaster and yes it got me even more excited about the 45 Colt. Especially the part about it being a "Bigger Hammer"! There is just something that makes you feel like an American when you thumb big ol 45 cases into the cylinder, which means I'll have to get a sixgun t...

Re: Future of the 45 Colt

One of my favorite and arguably most versatile rounds. Moscow said it already, but no fear at all on that cartridge or the brass. Heres a fun read to get your mouth salivating for one: http://www.customsixguns.com/writings/dissolving_the_myth.htm For grouse loads that barely make a crack to elk loa...

Future of the 45 Colt

I am really getting the itch to add a 45 Colt Lever gun to my collection but I'm a little concerned about the future of the round. I know its popular in the Cowboy Action Shooting world and with some outdoorsmen an plinkers but if I bought such a rifle do you think there will be much for available b...

Re: Modern fire arm General season.

I would agree with dmoua on this one. We were in elk camp near Boyer Mtn last weekend and had a pack of wolves come within 100 yards of camp early in the morning. After that the entire area was deathly quiet. All of the animals either hunkered down tight or left the territory.
