Re: 1911 in 9mm...experience?
Just switched to 9mm 1911 myself. Went with Guncrafter but are really pricey (not as pricey as the Ed Brown 9mm I wanted). I think the best value for the money would have to be Dan Wesson. Almost a semi-custom at a great price. Just picked up a 9mm SS V-Bob for my wife from Grab-A-Gun for $1355 ship...

Re: 1911 Photos
Ended up putting a set of VZ slim operator IIs on the new Ed Brown SF Carry. Like the tack when shooting. Have not carried it yet so not sure if the tack will be bothersome IWB. We'll see. Keep the 1911 pics coming!

Re: holster ideas
Seeing as you mentioned wanting to reduce holster wear, I would suggest not using Kydex. Leather will be much gentler to your 1911's finish. I have tried **A LOT** of different holsters over the years and have found the Milt Sparks VMII IWB to be the best for me in regards to workmanship and comfort...

Re: First 1911 help
I have been thinking about picking up a used norinco (forged) 1911 off of Gunbroker and shipping it off to a smith for additional work (replace and tune firing group, match barrel, and slide fitting). End up with a carry piece that you can trust for less than a thousand. Personally, I would just ta...

Re: 1911 Photos
Meet the Browns. Made the mistake of letting my wife hold one of them and now she wants to sell her SIG P229 Elites and get a 1911 9mm bobtail (Dan Wesson Guardian 9mm on the way). Ed Brown Special Forces Carry (credit to the guy I bought it from for the pic cause I suck at taking pics): http://i897...

Re: Would you guys buy this??
The Regent Arms Commander model even has a series 80 type firing pin safety, You say this like it is a good thing? I go out of my way to buy 1911s without them. Just my opinion but I think the more internal components you add to the weapon, the probability of failure to operate as designed increases.

Re: Best Mags?
Great netsecsys, now I got another company I gotta try. Thanx for the input though. It seems everyone agrees with the big name stuff working the best. Any lower priced mags that seem to be good values or any that you have had bad luck with? My second choice was Wilson ETM (great fit with a magwell)...
