Re: That one danm gun

If you're at all new to this deal, 300WM. If you want to source materials, parts, and pieces easily, 300WM. If you're not into hand loading, 300WM If you want a rifle that will last, 300WM. If it's your one and only hunting rifle, 300WM. If you are not looking at hunting elephants in Africa, or maki...

Re: looking for opinions on my scope

Meh... taking game at long ranges is certainly an ethical & honorable pursuit in every way, so long as you are qualified & capable of making those kinds of shots. Now random LR "trick shots", or long range "plinking" for the game if you will for lack of a better name, that is unethical. I hear that ...

Re: looking for opinions on my scope

You would have been better served with a fixed 10 power, but to answer your core question, yes they are excellent, particularly from a cost benefit perspective, big bang for your buck. ;-)

Re: What is YOUR deer slayer?

Whitetail, I love my Ruger Hawkeye in 25-06, the great American western hunting cartridge, good for ground squirels, coyote, on up to a big whitail buck, as for Mulies or elk, I deploy my Rem 700 in 7mm.

Re: Looking for a load

IMO you should definitely stay away from the lighter end of the spectrum, and plan to utilize heavier, longer, bullets 69 grains and on up. A 1:8 twist rate allows for versatility with heavier bullets, and accuracy potential is much better than with the lighter loads. So basically if you’re looking ...
