Impending Washington state gun legislation

Post by Robley » Tue Jan 09, 2018 11:46 am

I am surprised that I have not seen any threads about the upcoming gun legislation here in Washington state. I know that not all of you may be fans of one gun shop or another, but Sharp Shooting recently put out an alert on their Facebook. Here is the text I copied :

The Senate Law & Justice Committee is meeting on January 15th to discuss these issues. The bills discussed will include items like magazine capacity restrictions, banning a variety of firearms including most available handguns, semi-auto rifles, and even some bolt action rifles. This is real. If you do nothing it will pass. We made this image with all of the relative contacts. Sharing this on social media does absolutely nothing! You must pick up the phone and send emails. Even better show up in Olympia on January 15th. Time to act not talk.

Bills to be discussed:
5992, 5463, 5444, 6049, and 6146

There was also a picture showing email addresses and phone numbers of the senators on the committee. I will try to get that on when I am not typing from my phone.

Good call.

I'm not saying don't put up a fight, but no one should be surprised when an AWB or magazine ban passes this year or next.

I didn't know that a senate committee is willing to gather to talk about laws on a Federal Holiday...Something smells like fake news to me...
Anyone else ever hear of a Senate getting together to work on a Federal Holiday???

Done, and about to be done with this game playing state. Such a greedy and overbearing state government here, reminds one of California- typical liberal mentality syndrome. How do they plan to ENFORCE this IF it becomes law? Merit system? Neighbors snitching? Door to door sweeps... wasted time, money and effort on another unenforceable law. Garbage government in action. Sad days ahead guys...

These threads need 100s of replys, and even more views!

We need to get the word out!

Tell all your friends and neighbors. I have been writing emails and letters, I suggest everyone does the same. Don't let up until you get replys from your reps and Senator

I scanned through bills 5992, 5463, 5444, 6049, and 6146.
I can't find anything about:
banning a variety of firearms including most available handguns, semi-auto rifles, and even some bolt action rifles
Is it there, or is there another bill?

Not sure about that either. I would say most if not all state agencies will be closed on the 15th. I’m a federal employee and my agency is closed for the MLK holiday.

Well, wouldn’t be the first time. but still doesn’t answer why this would happen on a state and federal holiday.

I cant comment as to the date, but here is a super easy way to spam your State legislators with a prewritten letter.

It took me like a minute.

I say we file a law suit against Washington State if they pass this law it violates our constitutional rights.

And is against the law.

They would do so under a statute passed originally to protect African Americans after the Civil War, 28 U.S.C.§ 1983 (commonly referred to as Section 1983). This statute allows a person whose constitutional rights have been violated to sue the responsible public official or governmental body for money damages.

Why is everyone all worked up?? I agree, that what the state/federal law makers are trying to do is F#@!* UP...but lets use that Bowl of Pudding you call a brain for a second here...

Does anyone REALLY think that a bunch of government employees are going to work on passing laws...ON A PAID FEDERAL HOLIDAY...again PAID HOLIDAY...most bureaucrats are lazy worthless sacks of crap...yet I digress, This all sounds like BS.

Besides, talking about "we'll lets jus sue them for this, that and the other thing"...You dumb, backwoods, cousin-screwing moron... You are already accepting defeat on behalf of gun owners...and that the 'Left' has won...They haven't, and most likely won't.

But still, proactive vs. reactive...figure out which of the 2 words you want to stand next to...

Sometimes, I get on SGT and you people irritate to the point that not even kicking a puppy will make me feel better...fml

The glorified idiot of a governor, Jay Inslee- just called for an immediate ban on “bump stocks “ in Washington state. No more sales allowed, and people that possess them already- will be forced to surrender said equipment.

Robley has it right, and you don't have to be a NRA member. Better than doing nothing!

Please provide a link. Gov Inslee has been calling for this since it happened. However, I am unable to find anything that says he’s issuing an order making this into law outside of what he has been asking state legislatures to do for the last four months.

He’s URGING lawmakers after a visit with the state patrol crime lab. Gave him a demonstration of “simulated automatic fire” using a bumpstock, and that was enough for him after seeing what this piece of plastic is capable of in Las Vegas...
