I can give you a few thoughts on pawning as I worked for a local spokane pawnshop.
1st off as I remember it WA pawn interest is cheaper than ID, But that might have changed in the past year.
under 1k is like 13 to 15%
8% interest over 1k on a loan...per month! most loans are 90 days, so the true interest is 24% + fees like storage it can be 10$ storage for firearms. SO If I pawned my m1a for 1k, in 3 months it would cost me 24%+30$ storage+prep fees. So that 1k borrowed is now 1300 or 1400 depending on the fee's, to redeem it.
Price is a twitch thing though. If you have a good record with a pawn shop they will give you more than its valued at on a loan because you have been a good paying customer, if not you get the bottom price that they can find selling for on the internet. What you paid 10 years ago for that henry golden boy is irreverent to what they would have to sell it for. Loans are usual 1/3 or 1/2 of its actual worth, If a gun sells for 600 then expect 200 to 300 on a loan. Buying is usually 1/4 of value.
Pawn shops dont make money on selling things people have defaulted on, they make the money on returning customers paying off their interest on stored items.
Goodluck!

BTW I too have used ron at rivercity pawn on a few occasions, never pawned there though cause it was cheap in WA, but I liked the way I was treated.

If you're selling a gun and going through an ffl dealer is there still the waiting period for a pistol or can I walk out with it same day because it was still a private sale?

Pretty sure unless you have a CCP you will have the waiting period.

Still a waiting period, the second an FFL becomes involved, it is no longer just a private sale. Waiting periods are tricky in Spokane too, they tell you 10 business days, but if it comes in early, it is yours, which I have been seeing 4-5 business days or less. However there was a period not too long ago that they took a month, nothing you can do but wait, they are very specific at the state and county level, you cannot transfer in Spokane County until the paperwork comes back, no matter what the wait time.
