Deer Park / Boggs range

Post by Ncooper289 » Tue Nov 22, 2016 8:39 pm

Some one dumped about 20 wheels and tires at the gate sometime between Sunday and today.

I was able to pack out the tvs and other electronics that some arse wipe was nice enough to leave.

If i knew where to dispose of the tires for free i would have removed them.. any suggestions?

I checked the Spokane County transfer station and they will accept tires (six per visit) but not for free. If you find a place to take them send me a PM and I will help you. Thanks for your efforts.

Deer park les schwab will dispose of them at a $1 a tire.

Not really want to spend $20 cleaning up someone else's mess. But I'll chalk it up to my yearly range fee if i have too.

I'll go back Friday

Where is the range? Is it open year round? Inlaws live in deer park and we were looking for a place to shoot.

I do believe ninjassasin has picked these up and gotten rid of them.

Unfortunately, this has been a long fought ongoing struggle to TRY to keep the very few public ranges left open....
Many members here have organized, participated, donated... so much time and money given freely by the few, to keep places like this open for everyone.
No matter how we may attempt to educate people , whether at the range, here onsite, at gnu shows or grocery shopping... it kinda seems like it's a moot point to the idiotic public shooters that take pretty much everything for granted- and continue to use our public lands for dumping grounds.

It's hard to fill an overflowing cup, although I will continue pouring.

Racerx..

I know your pain. I'm willing to do my part to help out.

Now that i know les schwab will only charge a $1 to get rid of tires, I'll just pick them up next time.

It might be a tricky thing, but since so much time was spent on the cleanup recently and this dumping continues, what about a trail/game camera that someone monitors?

Good thinking! There seems to be these issues at all of our public ranges. Walmart has cheap trail cameras for sale for about $30/piece.

This seems like a good idea - but how easy are they to conceal? If you could mount a camera on one of the trees up on the high banks (where it would be hard to spot) and still have it focused at the gate area - so that you could clearly see faces and license plates, that would work. But if one of these jackwagons steal or put a bullet through the camera it isn't going to do much to solve the problem.

In the summers I expect I'll be going up to Loon Lake pretty often, so I could help with monitoring, and would even be willing to chip in on buying a camera or two.

I am 15 minutes, tops, from there.

I could monitor it as well.

Using a few cameras would be better than just one, just in case there is a malfunction or it "walks" away.

I would mount the camera up high on a tree. One thing I've noticed, people rarely look 'up'. They are usually oblivious, especially these types.

^^This^^

Great idea to help keep this place open. The logging berm to the south of the gate 50 yards or the opposite to the north would be a good place to start.

Another idea would be to ask the farmer across the street (west) to allow someone to mount a game camera to one of his fence posts, so the camera then is on private property. This is a win-win, as the farmer is as tired of people dumping their crap there as we are of cleaning it up. The down side is the distance would make license plates and vehicle descriptions tough to discern.
