Winchester model 74

Post by ChaseK » Thu Feb 08, 2018 12:50 am

My model 74 recently stop cycling properly and I can't figure it out!! I didn't cycle it with the safety on that's not my problem but it no longer will eject spent shells. Anyone know of any place that may carry older gun parts as I can't find them online. Or anyone have a parts gun out there? And yes, I'm well aware there are newer and easier guns to work on but NONE are like my 74 haha probably the only gun I've never tried to trade or sell on here lol

Give a try with cleaning solvent and compressed air. They are hard to clean. One other item may help is called a "Chamber Iron" that is used to swage out dents in the chamber caused mainly by dry firing. Scrub that chamber out with something that will clean out the old way and powder.

Numrich (Gun Parts) has a pretty good selection of parts for the 74. Many are being offered with free shipping.
