Hi All,
I'm wanting a 10/22 (or maybe an AR) built from scratch, and I am temped to buy an 80% lower and do the final machining.
Can this be done without a drill press?
Will I need taps?
Thanks

I would say a drill press is a necessity, just to make sure everything is square

There's multiple videos on every step and when your doing the largest hole for the barrel to insert into I don't see how doing it without a drill press would be a good idea
I've never done one
I really want to

A good quality drill press is a must. I wouldn't even attempt to do either one without a good drill press and some good quality drill bits.

I have not done a 10/22 but have done an AR lower. I have some of the Polymer 80 kits available. It was super easy to buildsirraftsalot wrote:Hi All,

I've finished 2 ar lowers using the modulus arms jigs. I used a cheap drill press as I don't trust myself with a drill. I also used a $100 router, as I didn't like the idea of the quill coming loose on a drill. They turned out ok.
