Froglube Poll... What are you using today for gun lube?

Post by SGTAnnounce » Sat Feb 03, 2018 7:45 am

I started using Froglube last year. Also use WeaponShield. As stated in the other thread, I've not had issues. Seems to work OK, and is not gumming my guns. Hit the poll, what do you think? What do you use?

I use Pro-Shot Pro Gold grease for high wear areas and choke tube grease. I use Birchwood Casey synthetic oil for everything else or Hilco Lube if I can find it. Never had a single issue.

Synthetic transmission fluid (1 cup), Synthetic 0w-20 (1 cup) , with a generous splash of Hoppes #9 (about 3 TBSPs) ....boom witch craft. found the recipe online after months of research. It smells ultimately like tranny fluid which is worth it. I put it in a one of those mini bottles

BreakFree and RemOil.
I have a couple of cans of RemOil that I use a lot - mainly for cleaning.
My aerosol can of CLP lost all it's pressure when it still had a couple of ounces left, so I cut the can open and poured the contents into an old (clean) eye-drops bottle.
Can't get much more old-school than that!

I still use Froglube on my 1911s. I use Lucas gun oil or Lucas Extreme gun oil on my Sig pistol because it came with some. Benelli oil on the Benellis. I've used Mobil 1 on quite a few over the years. Whatever works.

I use a medley of the following, depending on the application at hand:

Break-Free CLP.

TW-25B.

Slip 2000 product line.

Ballistol.

Hey, not to mean anything bad at all by this. I just want to say that WD40 is not a lube, it's actually design to for penatration to break up rust and corrosion and drive moisture out, but quickly evaporates with in a day or two. I think WD does make a lube specific one though

I use WD-40 a lot, however I don't not on my gun... don't use it on my firearms either.

I read it, and it says it does exactly what it posted above.
But if your happy with it, then use what you like best, I'm not gonna judge ya. I would not use a "penatraiting" oil though. It just too light and evaporates too fast.

FireClean when cleaning/re-oiling. Lucas Gun oil for field lube.

Works for me, but I am a casual shooter and don't deal with a lot of dirt or carbon.
