Any reviews on Peltor TacSpot earmuffs?
Been looking for some electric earmuffs with an audio in. Anyone use anything like these, or these?

Active noise cancelling can give problems, other than that they are gtg.

Dave, I have two pair of Peltor earmuffs but a different model. Mine are the kind with the band behind the head. The first pair are over 10 years old and have malfunction in one ear were the wind makes a funny soft noise in that ear. But they still work! The newer pair look the same but are 3M-Peltor. The pair you bought should be good.

Re: Any reviews on Peltor TacSpot earmuffs?
The problem I'm referring to has to do with a high-pitched squeal that is constant. I don't know if they are all that way but I returned two pairs that had this problem before landing on the Howard Leigh's, which also have the input.
I have played around quite a bit with noise counseling headphones and have noticed that some which provide active noise cancelling produce that sound, while others do not.
Perhaps that isn't a big issue for you, sometimes people can't even here that pitch of sound.

I'm probably in that class of people since as a younger man I wrecked a LOT of my hearing, particularly at the higher registers. I'll keep that in mind though, I should have it by monday I think, then I'll start using them.TheRemington700Club wrote:The problem I'm referring to has to do with a high-pitched squeal that is constant. Re: Any reviews on Peltor TacSpot earmuffs?
Spent some time at SRC with a member here using the earmuffs.
First bit of time with them on I had some molded ear plugs in as well. The mics fed me good, quality sounding audio while muffling the gun shots.
When I took out the plugs, I noticed a couple things.
First, no whining or whistling or crackling. That was good.
I found the depending on which way I turned my head when a gun was fired the noise cancelling effective would sometimes work, sometimes wouldn't.
If I was facing the source of the noise, the cancelling worked fine. If it was directly to my left or right it was fine. If it was at a 45 degree angle to me, the cancelling didn't work very well and my ears would get a mild ring going. I'm going to contact Peltor to find out if that is to be expected.

I had a pair of Sport Impact muffs. They sucked. The amplification part was fine but you had to wear plugs under them. My cheapy Peltor muffs are much better.
