SHTF/Survival/Rifle backpack

Post by Backlash » Fri Mar 01, 2013 2:09 pm

Ok, been looking at getting a new backpack for a while. Ever since seeing this backpack I have wanted one.. but at $300 :o I'm looking at other options.

As you can see in this pic, a Shotgun scabbard (already have one) can be strapped to the side perfectly. I don't need 180000 cubic feet of storage in the pack either. This is a medium sized pack with like 2500CI total.
This pic shows the top open, but it can be closed to cover up the rifle, and the bottom of the rifle "bag" extended.

Some pics/review of a GSII made into a BoB. You can see how well it fits an AR15

and Video for the visual learners ;)

Does anyone have any suggestions on packs similar to this?
Needs to have at a minimum MOLLE system on the sides to strap my scabbard too, and prefer to have some sort of compartment to hold a rifle like the above pic.
Hydration pouch is not needed.
Now two flags fly above my land that really sum up how I feel. One is the colors that fly high and proud, the Red/White/Blue. The other ones got a Rattle snake with a simple statement made, Don't Tread on Me is what it says and I'll take that to my grave.

I own two the g3 and g4 they are well worth the money, the only down side is the get heavy quick I've loaded the g4 operator to 95 pounds and then tried to walk around and woof it got heavy fast but it had every thing you would need for a long duration of time. the g3 phantom is a bit lighter and the one I use on three day hikes at 45 to 55 pounds of gear and its not to bad. just my .02 cents just get the one you want and you will have it for your lifetime under warranty.
DID YOU SEE THE SIZE OF THAT CHICKEN!?!?

Resist the temptation to get a knockoff. It will fail.

Eberelstock is one of the best, just find the model that you like and put down the cash for it, im telling you your gonna love it. These are so well built and super comfortable. I picked up the Halftrack for all around general use, and its awsome!

I like all of my maxpedition gear. And some of the best prices I've found so far are actually online through walmart. I think they have a deal through ebags or something.

i'll have to check out the Maxpedition gear.

The gunslinger 2 is the pack I keep coming back to look at.. the ability to have a rifle right there is very appealing.
Keep waiting for a "sale"

I don't want a pack that can hold a ton.. i'd be tempted to fill it up. the GS2 is perfect size imo, and can hold my rifle inside. And the shotgun on the outside if I want.

actually it doesn't.
almost though. Look at the pic above, Shotgun Scabbard right up close so you can pull it out when wearing the pack. the one on ebay, has no way of putting the scabbard on.

Close, I like that price point though lol.
