Need a few parts to get my Remington back to gi/mil-speciness..........quality new or used parts..........without breaking the bank.
side release, mainspring housing, hammer, recoil spring/guide......etc., etc.
where to buy? Brownells, sarco, numrich, ebay.....?

I look on Amazon, Ebay, Gunbroker, Brownells, and MidwayUSA. Usually with a little creative searching I can find what I am looking for at the right price.

There are certain specific parts of the 1911 pistol that are critical to it's function. One is the slide stop/release and the other is the Extractor. If the Extractor is not properly heat-treated and tensioned you will have endless reliability problems. Get a quality Wilson bulletproof part.
Non-critical parts such as the mainspring housing is where you can save a little money because the quality and temper of the steel is not important. But don't skimp on critical parts such as the extractor or slide stop.
The slide stop has a pin that goes through the barrel link. That pin absorbs all your recoil forces. You don't ever want that part to suddenly break.
Also use only Wolfe Springs. They are the absolute best.
