Re: 1911 Photos
Here's mine. Springfield Mil Spec. All I changed was the MSH, trigger and Safety. I wanted a pretty basic but reliable 1911 without all the bell and whistles. The only thing I wish I had done differently is gone with stainless. I put it up for trade for a stainless model but if I don't get a offer I am still very happy to keep this one. I was a little intimidated to do the trigger and safety but it turns out they were not hard to do and I am glad I tried.

Re: 1911 Photos
My latest build. It's a total, "Parts is Parts Frankenstien 1911 .45acp pistol" built completely out of spare parts.
The Slide is an original WW2 Ithaca 1911 slide, that someone in the past had the slide milled for a 3/8" dovetail to accept Dovetail front sights. Originaly it had the staked in front sight. The frame is a 1970's Aluminum frame in excellent condition. So I mixed some old style 1911 along with some new style 1911 parts and this is how it turned out. I hand fitted all the parts and gave it a crisp 3.5 pound trigger pull. The slide and buttons was done in Tactical Flat black, while the frame and mainspring housing I did in Tactical Grey/Green. Then it some original style wood grip panels. The pistol looks really nice compared to the dark photos I took of it. All I need now for it to be totally finished is the sights. I will be building a 38 super 1911 next and a 9mm and another .45 soon. The 38 Super, I will be building, I will be using an original Colt 38 super slide. And the 9mm I will be using an original Colt 9mm series 70 slide.
Here is a couple of pics of how it turned out this latest build.

Sure do like that mainspring housing with the lanyard ring. I have a thing for GI 1911A1's and pre series 70 commercial Colts made the way John Moses Browning intended them to be with no modern enhancements except for internals and Wilson mags. And I've always wanted a nickel plated 38 Super with mother-of Pearl grips which George Patton said that only a pimp would have on their gun but hey some pimps had some pretty nice guns so what can I say.
RiA actually makes a pretty nice one in their GI series.
The thing with the 38 super though is that you kind of need and aftermarket barrel with a supported chamber that headspaces on the case mouth and then you need a stiffer recoil spring so you can shoot hotter than standard 130 grain FMJ's at 1150-1200 fps ammo. The 38 super is capable of 357 sig Ballistics. And then the headspacing is important for better accuracy.

Re: 1911 Photos
I find it funny that the factories used to know how to load a 38 Super with 130gr bullets , and how to make them go 1300fps. Today it's mostly a 9mm with a little longer case. Well, except for Buffalo Bore that is.

The lower gun in the picture is the Springfield, right? those are nice guns but what is the stainless gun in the upper half of the photo? I like THAT one!

Thanks. I thought maybe the one on bottom was a Springfield EMP and that the one on top was a stainless Colt 1991® Series

Re: 1911 Photos
Yeah the sig is my edc and a great little gun. I've wanted a 1911 for quite some time and really wanted stainless. Seen the Springfield yesterday and had to pick it up. Ordered some Wilson mags, extractor, beaver tail (as I like the upswept style better) and hammer. Will be getting more eventually but it turned into an expensive day as I just went in the store to get a $40 seat for my fishing boat.
